WENT TO A PARTY, MOM
Please read all the way to the bottom and sign your
name.

I went to a party,
And remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom
So I had a sprite instead.

I felt proud of myself,
The way you said I would,
That I didn't drink and drive,
Though some friends said I should.
I made a healthy choice,
And your advice to me was right,
The party finally ended,
And the kids drove out of sight.

I got into my car,
Sure to get home in one piece,
I never knew what was coming, Mom
Something I expected least.

Now I'm lying on the pavement,
And I hear the policeman say,
The kid that caused this wreck was drunk,
Mom, his voice seems far away.

My own blood's all around me,
As I try hard not to cry.
I can ! hear the paramedic say,
This girl is going to die.

I'm sure the guy had no idea,
While he was flying high,
Because he chose to drink and drive,
Now I would have to die.

So why do people do it, Mom
Knowing that it ruins lives?
And now the pain is cutting me,
Like a hundred stabbing knives.

Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom
Tell daddy to be brave,
And when I go to heaven,
Put Daddy's Girl on my grave.

Someone should have taught him,
That it's wrong to drink and drive.
Maybe if his parents had,
I'd still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom
I'm getting really scared.
These are my final moments,
And I'm so unprepared.

I wish that you could hold me Mom,
As I lie here and die.

$350 Million Tsunami Aid Bush Pledges

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush, under pressure over the pace and size of American aid to Asian tsunami victims, dramatically raised U.S. assistance to the region on Friday to $350 million from $35 million.

The White House suggested the abrupt, tenfold increase could be extended after a delegation headed by Secretary of State Colin Powell tours devastated areas next week and reports back to the president on the relief needs of an estimated 5 million tsunami survivors.

120,000 Death toll tops ; Canada joins U.S.-led aid coalition

BANDA ACEH, Indonesia (CP) - An unprecedented world relief drive to shelter, treat and feed millions of survivors of Asia's tsunami disaster kicked into high gear Friday as donations poured in and aid planes and ships - including a U.S. aircraft carrier battle group - rushed to the devastated region. The death toll passed 120,000.

Survivors on the ground grappled with the destruction. Teams of forensic experts in Thailand packed bodies in dry ice as the government announced its death toll in the tsunami disaster had doubled to more than 4,500 people, almost half of them foreigners. Hopes faded that more survivors would be found.

Three of Canada four confirmed deaths in the disaster were in Thailand, as were most of the almost 90 people listed as missing or unaccounted for by the Foreign Affairs Department in Ottawa.

In the hardest-hit country, Indonesia, officials began to acknowledge that the death toll might never be known with precision, since towering waves on Sunday swept entire villages out to sea. The country's official death toll stood at about 80,000, but Health Minister Siti Fadillah Supadi said it could reach 100,000.

"It is very difficult to predict the final toll," said Dody Budiatman, co-ordinator of national relief efforts. "We could search in small boats, but considering the numbers it would be very difficult."

Death counts across the region continued to grow. More than 120,000 people were reported dead around southern Asia and as far away as Somalia on Africa's eastern coast, most killed by massive tsunamis that smashed coastlines after a magnitude 9.0 earthquake off Indonesia's coast Sunday.

Sri Lanka reported about 28,500 deaths and India more than 7,700. A total of more than 300 were killed in Malaysia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Somalia, Tanzania and Kenya.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said on Thursday that the international community had pledged some $600 million Cdn toward the relief effort, but more help was needed.

"Over the past few days it has registered deeply in the consciousness and conscience of the world as we seek to grasp the speed, the force and magnitude with which it happened," Annan said. "But we must also remain committed for the longer term."

While the money starting rolling in, militaries around the globe also geared up to help. A U.S. aircraft carrier battle group was steaming to Sumatra.

In Ottawa, Prime Minister Paul Martin announced that Canada has joined a U.S.-led coalition of mostly developed countries delivering relief to tsunami-struck south Asia.

Martin pledged Canada's commitment to the coalition that also includes Japan, Australia and India, in a telephone conversation early Friday with President George W. Bush.

A spokeswoman for Martin says the group will work together - and with the United Nations - to ensure rich countries are not competing against each other in the delivery of aid.

Top 100,000 Reeking corpses rotted

Reeking corpses rotted in the tropical sun from India to Indonesia on Wednesday and many who escaped death from one of the worst tsunamis in history fought for survival against thirst and disease.

Rescuers scoured remote coastlines around the Indian Ocean for survivors of Sunday's colossal seawater surge triggered by an earthquake that caused an arc of death across southern Asia and may have made the world wobble on its axis.

"I would not be at all surprised that we will be on 100,000 (deaths) when we know what has happened on the (Indian) Andaman and Nicobar islands," Peter Rees of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said.

The federation currently puts the death toll at 77,828

Asia Death,Toll at 59,000

Asia Disaster Yields Its Dead, Toll at 59,000
The sea and wreckage of coastal towns around the Indian Ocean yielded up tens of thousands of bodies on Tuesday, pushing the toll from Sunday's tsunami close to 60,000.
The apocalyptic destruction caused by the ocean surge dwarfed the efforts of governments and relief agencies as they recovered countless corpses while trying to treat survivors and take care of millions of homeless, increasingly threatened by disease amid the rotting remains. Thousands more were injured.
The United Nations launched what it called an unprecedented relief effort to assist nations hit by a devastating tsunami triggered by a magnitude 9.0 undersea earthquake off the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
In a further threat to the region, disease could kill as many people as those killed by the wall of water, a top World Health Organization (WHO) official said.
While grieving families in wrecked coastal towns and resorts buried their loved ones, others, including many foreign tourists, searched for friends and relatives still missing.
"Why did you do this to us, God?" wailed an old woman in a devastated fishing village in southern India's Tamil Nadu state. "What did we do to upset you? This is worse than death."

A CALL TO PRAYER Asia Tsunamis Thailand

Friend , a friend and business partner that lives in Srilanka wrote me this letter about the terrible destruction in his country Srilanka.

All of you given to prayer, I am asking  you to pray with me and others for the people in that country and all areas affected.

Anyone that does not believe in prayer, please excuse me in this matter, and do what you think best.
Dear Friend,
Srilanka was hit by a massive TIDAL WAVE on the morning of the day after Christmas around 5.55am early morning firstly at the East Coast devastating every township in that locality.
As at present there are over 5000 dead with local and tourists and over 60,000 rendered homeless, relief is pouring in from all corners of the globe including ALASKA.

People had witnessed some unusual happenings during this time, they had seen the parting of the seas and a path way with waves holding back on either side of upto 250 feet, they say this was something like when god commanded the opening of the seas for Prophet Moses to pass by with his followers, the people who have seen such and talked of such have all gone dumb.

The entire country has been thrown into a NATIONAL ALERT and an emergency has been declared, though the waves have stopped as of now, the warning has been made that tremours, rain and flash floods could occur at any given time during a 15 day period from Sunday 26 December 2004.
Light a candle for the safety of my family and myself.
Thanks and best regards
Feroze

37 Christian Ways to Reduce Stress

  4. Say no to projects that won’t fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

  25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

  35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
  36. Every night before bed, think of one thing you’re grateful for that you’ve never been grateful for before.
  37. Pray hard

God has a way of turning things around for you

Pray For Those Alone This Holiday Season

We all have different needs in our lives. We may hope for peace and joy and wish for love and comfort. But whatever our needs are, the Lord Jesus Christ is here to meet them and show us the way. Finding True Joy You may, in your own life, be trying to find happiness in career success, in money, even in political ideals and social causes. Or, you may be trying to numb yourself from the pain of life through drinking, through drugs, or casual relationships. However, instead of finding real joy, you may be finding yourself at your own rock bottom.Being with God--this is real joy, and it is within your grasp if you have the courage to reach for His outstretched hand.

Those who Have no one around the holidays fall into one of two emotional conditions. They either become hopeful of getting family and friends into there lives again, or become defeated that they have reached the beginning of the end and maybe even seek revenge. If you look into their eyes, you can either see a light or feel emptiness. Most days, only emptiness. The hopelessness in their eyes was more than just a longing for their family. It was hopelessness of life. There was nothing more to live for, and nothing beyond the walls of there empy home. I wonder if any of them think about God.

Sometimes, life can be as suffocating as being confined to the four walls of a hospital room. We spend all of our lives building "walls". We chase our dreams and we pursue success in the world. But at the end, sometimes the walls we think we build to protect us end up being the same walls that will imprison us to hopelessness. Out of His amazing love, God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to the crucifixion of the cross so that, through His death, He might break down the middle wall of separation between us and God Himself. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. (Jn 3:16) If we put our hope and our faith in His promise of a better world beyond the one we are living right now, we will find a peace in our hearts that neither fear death nor the suffering of this life. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom 8:35, 38-39) Love Human love is a wonderful thing, but sometimes we may still feel that something is missing in our lives. Jesus Christ wants to fill that empty part of our hearts with His perfect love. He is drawing us to Him so that we can truly find fulfillment and joy (Jer 31:3, Hos 11:4, Zeph 3:17). He has promised that if we seek Him with all our hearts, we will surely find Him (Jer 29:13). Truth Despite all the things we acquire, we feel empty and discontent because we are looking for happiness and fulfillment in the wrong things.

We set our priorities and goals based on our egos. We measure success by popular trends in society. We have been led into thinking that the more we have, the happier we will be. But are we? Jesus said, "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" (Mk 16:26). Here, the Lord Jesus reveals the truth about our existence. We can gain everything in this world, but if our soul is not connected with our Creator, we are nothing. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." He also promised His followers, "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." The truth about our existence lies with Him, and His words spoken through the Bible tell us that He is the way to a valuable existence. Salvation Comfort Salvation.
